"Maw Sally's maiden name was Coker...there are Cokers in both Cherokee and Chickasaw tribal lists. Dad said he thought she was Chickasaw, but there are a lot more Cokers in the Cherokee list. Wash (great grandfather) seems to have been a pretty shady character. It is entirely possible he was married and divorced, then took Sally (willing or not). Dad said she was the meanest woman (his grandmother) he ever knew. She probably had good reason."
