See DK's current post another significant aspect of the errors of policy from mid century

"Billions of dollars worth of jet aircraft, tanks, artillery and much more went from the US, the Soviets and other nations to India and Pakistan, Egypt and Israel, Iran and Saudi Arabia, North and South Korea, North and South Vietnam, and elsewhere.  Occassionally this weaponry was used in local wars."

Liberal international trade expansionism, in weapons and strategic and commercial patronage; and communist influence commercial expansionism patronage, correspondingly.

Call it the cold war boom of The Rest that served the long term interests of neither the US nor USSR.

In fact, it has killed off remaining hegemonic opportunities of each, to some extent, and will lead to their disadvantage, in any conflicts, economic and military, going forward.

SEE DK'S CURRENT POST

'....The Constitution is not primarily at fault.'

He does, however, cite certain weaknesses, which Toobin also notes.

There are plenty of others, I call them structural problems, but they also flow from suspicion of the ancient regime itself, and from the colonial geopolitical status quo ante, that neither of them apparently feel a need to go back into or address.

Bailyn's works best show how the stage was set, so to speak, for these weaknesses to emerge in the constitution, as well as in American society and culture generally.

RE WARSHIP ENCOUNTER AND MACMILLAN'S THEMES WWI

As I have pointed out, globalized military instability, call it war, has been under way now for several years, under the radar so to speak.

It is beginning to come out more into the open, where any idiot could see it, now.

RE US SAYS CHINA AIR DEFENSE ZONE UNACCEPTABLE

If you don't want to later have to confront em, on less favorable terms, don't even boom em in the first place.

Sage advice, for 40 years ago, 60 years for Japan.

Terms search: fattening things up.

This is where our people are; Kerry: ' Korea and Japan should get closer, for Asian security ', something like that.

Japan and Korea hate each other.

DUSTY ON FRANCIS ON TRICKLE DOWN

He's got the drop on em, out by the stagecoach:

Dusty: " Gimme all yur trickle down, an nobody gits hirt.  That's yur human rites."

Meanwhile, Wong, who has sneaked up behind Dusty, is pissing on his rear boot, while he looks the other way.

Zuckerberg coming out as a classic liberal globalist un Americanist maverick Executive on immigration policy

The other globalist Americans are the grass roots conservative American globalists, and the Rightist Monopolist American globalists, all globalist brothers, in this peculiarly American sense, under the skin.

The Achilles heel, for a nation state, here (still the only state anywhere worth having, or in sight, other than an imperial one) was always excess diversity.

Name me an American who is not, deep down a globalist?

Even the conservatives, especially economists, even liberal ones, very deeply, are globalists.

CHINA PUSHING OUT ON ALL SIDES INDIA BORDER S CHINA SEA MUSLIMS ETC

Guess who may have given them the ' go ahead '?

If not, they aren't talking about that, at least in the Western press, either.
