Some of my old clients qualified to be treated as habitual felony offenders...

Prosecutors we faced, moreover, were often women, so my clients' lingo was often to the effect that 'they were putting the bitch on them'...it was rather comical.

It just meant that they were looking at 15 years and up, usually for some chicken shit felony, but unfortunately it was their third.
