Let's talk national security, then and now.
Liberace points out that Russia has long known more than Americans about Trump. Well whose fault is that? Certainly the CIA has known about it all along. Most probably the NYT has also known about it for years.
He then jumps to: every day now a national security emergency.
Why not take a long view, say, a Verdict of History view, since Liberace at NYT talks today about Trump's connections to Moscow?
What about FDR's? See for example, The Haunted Wood, several books on Venona, Target Patton.
The West caved to Russia on the Eastern Question long ago, even before FDR then gave them eastern Europe for free...
The NYT sided with FDR, sympathetic to Russia, to the end. That is an amoral chump institution, then and now. Terms search: Drew Pearson Fallacy
