The Whig Civil War History.
Tearing down Confederate monuments, one might call it radical whiggism, rising again, in New Orleans and elsewhere, etc., will not get the history right. They get it wrong.
Defending founding father federal slaveholder monuments against destruction, while standing silent or condoning Confederate monuments being torn down, let's just call it
The Whig Historian Hypocrisy...The Whig Fallacy.
If racism is the whig criterion here, one might as well start tearing down the Lincoln Monument next:
"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,-- that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifyling them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will for ever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality."
