His discussion of all the problems Xi faces were he to turn this way or that, strategically diplomatically or economically, using leverage or not, shows Haass has had a lot of experience regarding pivoting this way or that himself!
China has come an awful long way since 1971, licking your LIEO butt Mr Haass. Think about that, regarding blaming them for their pollution and other high growth related problems you saddled them with, inequality, debt, corruption, you mention.
Haass thinks checks and balances might help Xi....
