Of course, the Turks, or rather the Ottomans, have been at war with the Russians on and off for many centuries. The Ottomans owned a goodly chunk of Southern Russia for a long time.
More recently, they prevented Russia from leaving the Black Sea. They fought several wars against each other, even in the 19th Century, I forget how many.
The Crimean War was a biggie, pitting Western Christians in an unholy alliance with the Sultan against Christian Russia.
