People like this post, the other day. Why not further elaborate on a few themes in that post:
We have a history of utter failure in the 20th Century with regard to both national industrial policy and national trade and commercial policy.
The development of information technology in the later 20th Century has proven that we are going to be beaten with our own technological innovations, free gifts to hostile civilizations, without ever having developed a coherent national technology policy both to specially benefit and to protect only Americans in the first place. Put another way, why should citizens pay taxes that are used to benefit primarily their rivals, adversaries, or even enemies, hardly their partners?
