RE GERMANY CHINA RUSSIA JAPAN DREW PEARSON PATTON CHURCHILL

The political and journalistic attacks made on Churchill during the 30s Wilderness Years were similar in kind and extent to those later made on Patton.

The big difference was that Churchill was merely kept out of power until almost too late, really.

The arguments that Patton, at the end of WWII was not only insubordinate, unpredictable, but also dangerously deranged, a story that Drew Pearson was used both by the Administration here and simultaneously as a Soviet stooge to break here, were later used, covertly, as a reasonable pretext and excuse then to have him executed.  I still find the Bazata account as persuasive, though we were shown a fragmentary summary of it, by Wilcox, in Target Patton.

Even for those who are skeptical about the Wilcox Bazata account, there are many facts and analogies, that are grounded now in more solid facts than existed at the time of Patton's death.

There is the whole array of Soviet clandestine activities within and outside the FDR administration for whom Patton's views were seen as a desperate threat to very important Ssoviet objectives in Eastern Europe and elsewhere.

There is the connection between Drew Pearson, either a willing tool of the Soviets, or a conduit for his close subordinates who were Soviet agents outright, eg David Carr.

There was the closely factually similar ostensible accident, involving a produce cart, sent careening down on Patton who very narrowly escaped death then. There is the history of Soviet use of trucks as tools of assasination. The list goes on. There is the corroboration of other persons privy to sensitive assasination plans for Patton within Eastern Europe.
