It is actually much worse than I had imagined....
He never even had any pretensions, or any background, in anything intellectual, whatsoever, apparently, but was mostly interested in sports, for which he had very little natural aptitude either.
Woody Allen was actually an anti intellectual, who was taken for an intellectual by his American audiences, both by how he looked and by the scripts of his movies at times.
He also had no training or any talent for directing, and learned little as he went along, self taught.
His hero was Hope, not Lewis. That, by ltself, speaks volumes.
It's hard to put into words the cultural and artistic damage his work has done, given those revelations.
Nevertheless, I side with Woody, and Baldwin, on the attacks on his behavior, and charges levelled at him.
