I just want to make this tiny point here, going forward. I am sure others have noted it, en passant.
The tape the Turks apparently have is almost certainly the result of their having illegally bugged the Saudi Embassy, in what is and must be considered both by the West and by the Rest a clear and flagrant violation of international law, rather than a leaked whistleblower, or calculated terrorist, Saudi tape.
If a Saudi with a green card here had committed a murder, but under circumstances otherwise affording him a right to privacy and against unreasonable search and seizure, the tape could, if improperly obtained, presumably, have been suppressed by his lawyer, under US constitutional and criminal privacy law....
Treaties between Turkey and SA also presumably were violated here.
When one cannot conduct state affairs in secrecy in one's embassy, then it becomes merely a large, very expensive bathroom in a foreign country, and should be dismantled. This applies to all embassies in all countries.
If I err here, then doubtless someone could correct me.
I would call it Turkeygate.
