Trump has actually been flailing around weakly, but honestly it seems, trying to attack its effects, tariffs, exiting costly one way alliances, cutting ineffectual and unbeneficial aid, exiting trade globalizing agreements like WTO, cutting deals with adversaries to cut costs it seems, etc.
I have pointed out, at various times, what would be required, in a general sense, to do something like that, to try to reverse it.
It would be tantamount to treating globalization like a war we just lost, which it is in many ways, and instituting a Marshall Plan scale program of reindustrialization, redevelopment in many ways, for the US.
The political hurdles for such a program are impossible to leap. There are so many.
America is not set up to have been a developmental state, like Japan and other successor copycat Asian states.
It is certainly not set up to be a Redevelopmental State, but that is what would be required.
