This has been the story...one could reverse the terms, same result.....it's random globalization, either way.
It was politically, and certainly at first militarily, a defensive war, but not later, either politically or militarily.
If one looks at Patton's remarks, or even Monty's, re Soviet weakness by 1945, the truth comes out.
If one looks at collusion between Russia and Japan, leading to Pearl Harbor, etc., less and less reason, either to leave Soviet system in place in or after 1945 (cold War and defensive market capitalist globalization), or to build Japan and others up thereafter (bubble market capitalist offensive globalization).
