The bigger news, it turns our, is in Reuters' article on the same subject, that of also making Britain the clearinghouse for international currency trading in the Yuan, away from Hong Kong.
Sounds like China will be allowed to buy gas with Yuan in this deal.
Smells more like back to a gold reserve status trend, now that the dollar is tied to nothing much except a consumer umbilical cord around the world's neck.
Maybe the real story is that the deal is denominated, or could some day be denominated, in currency contractually backed by gold?
