JEFFERSON AND SALLY

Jefferson: "Sally, I think a national bank is a bad idea. Just like standing armies, like the one that defended us against the French. We would have been better off taken over by the French than protected by a British standing army.

(Oh, yeah, now that I come to think of it, they had a standing army, too; but that's, for me, beside the point. After all, they're French.)"

"I believe in the private ownership, of local banks, by local squires, like me."

Sally: "Right on, Mr Jefferson. You're the owner."
