My father used to subscribe to this one. He more or less had to, given that he was the chief pharmacist for Eckerd Drug Company of Florida, Inc., later The Jack Eckerd Corporation, later still incorporated into CVS.
It's interesting to note that that is not the only term used for this type of corporate entity.
They have regularly implemented land use restrictions on such entities, fast food chains, chain stores, etc., in snootie places like Cape Cod, where scions of such entities and others reside(d).
They called them something else, formula businesses?
