Whether it was American rebels miraculously finding and justifying representative democracy of sorts after 1787, Lincoln Radical Republicans marching ignorant gangs of negroes around polling sites throughout the occupied South to get Grant elected, or after 1832 in Britain when the parties virtually selected the voters (p. 37).
