Shortly before the dawn, say from 50 to 35 thousand years ago, modern humans took over.
In West Eeurasia, they supplanted neanderthals and others.
It took 15,000 years or so.
Did the Neanderthals just gradually go down for a very long nap?
It was still, at 35,000 years ago, tens of thousands of years before the dawn of civilization, but a blink in the enormously long archaic human time.
