This is touted as so environmentally friendly and necessary, and in a sense it is.
But let's think about some of the underlying conditions and motivations shifting societies and industries in these directions.
What are they?
Are the Chinese such great humanistic environmentalistic Aquarians?
Good global citizenship?
Sustainability?
Who wants to sustain whom for what?
Isn't sustainability, after all, part of an endgame race to the bottom, a survival of the most sustainable, a Darwinian environmentalism?
And who wants to keep human populations at these high levels, or even higher ones, by so called Rogue Environmentalism?
It is the sort of trend that ultimately gives environmentalism itself a bad name.
We are installing solar panels for the same reasons most people do, it has become cost effective, and to not keep getting screwed by power companies, and because we are some of the few groups of well to do people on the planet who can afford it.
Religion? For many zealots, it is that.
