LEONHARDT THE CORRUPTION OF KING GEORGE AND TRUMP THAT GOOD OLE TIME RELIGION

Luigi claims the reason for the bi partisan popularity of corruption as a campaign topic is economic.

Thus, he opens the door to Krugman to take over the explanation.

But, on the other hand, it is now a two edged sword for an economist, in that in the hands and on the watch of economists and financiers, markets long grew imperfectly.

Presumably, if markets weren't imperfect, due mainly to corruption at the top, (and not elsewhere), including presumably the corruption of economic and financial leaders, all would be well.

The classic account of primordial economic and financial evil, and corruption, in an anti Semitic vein, has been that of Jewish investment bankers, bankers to kings, such as the Rothschilds, a history chronicled dispassionately by Niall Ferguson.

The corruption of Western leaders has allowed evil foreigners to take over and impoverish us good common people.

The corruption of kings and bishops, at the time of the American Rebellion, has over time been transformed into the corruption of politicians, businessmen, bankers, economists, and any other authority figures now to blame for the Western human condition.

The attack on corruption now is the modern manifestation of that similar attack on the Old Corruption of King George and Anglican as well as Catholic churches, by that ole time religion.

Here, from a prior post is Clark's account of the progress of Old Corruption:

"Arianism and Socinianism shared with Deism one novel consequence. The more unnecessary the doctrine of the Atonement, the more it could be presumed that man was inherently benevolent; it followed that he was corrupted, or enslaved, only by outside forces (that is, by other people). Nurture rather than nature was prioritized; and the more that the human condition or the workings of divine Providence were excused, the more the blame for society's ills had to be laid at the door of minorities of wicked individuals. The tyranny of sin was subtly transformed into the tyranny of kings and bishops....politically mobilized Dissent redirected the hitherto-confused Deity to become a warrior against kingly and episcopal authority. Far from being secularized, spiritual commitments, zeal and hatreds were transferred to the political arena in the 1770s to greater effect than at any time since 1688-9.
