I was a public defender for 7 or so years. I can quote chapter and verse from experience.
They often run for office on being tough on crime. That usually simply means rounding up a quota of negroes, and then crowing about it later to get reelected, promoted, or to run for a different overbearing office.
It is a very, very, very, deeply rutted path tempting for all lawyers and law enforcement officers in this society.
Cops have been arresting and prosecutors convicting and judges sentencing negroes in vastly disproportionate numbers in this country literally for generations.
Americans and the media love to talk about victims of crime....
I can tell you about a different group of victims of crime.....
No one talks about this group, except in the contexts of the high profile recent years DNA innocence projects, that themselves falsely give our system a new fake semblance of general fairness....
The NYT just ran a piece on debtors' prisons, but talking mainly only about bail.
Probation: Oh my God!
What a lot of media bull, talking about bail.
Not that the bail system is not a corrupt and degenerate system, but rather that it is the tip of the iceberg of degeneracy and corruption, and no one is in a better position to have always known this deep social fact than the NYT.
