Weak government, I mean really weak government, was already outdated in Jefferson's time. That is the sad part. (It was also not necessarily a so called enlightenment ideal. It had other sources.)
A so called market state regime, nowadays, will only set a stage for stronger NON MARKET states, whatever they are, to follow.
The alternative, of course, under a Jeffersonian system, to resumption of stronger states, is a quasi perpetual weak, Hobbesian, state of nature of all against all.
