I had mentioned on DK's site certain HBR dinosaurs.
One could already smell the coffee in the 70s, with a text book like Vernon and Wells' The Manager In The World Economy.
Vernon had already written Sovereignty At Bay, a book that equivocated about its title a lot, but told a lot more about the handwriting on the wall.
This is only a brief sample of what was there, often from the 50s and 60s, but still being rehashed in 1980:
"One more time: How do you motivate employees?" Herzberg
"New management job: the integrator" Lawrence, Lorsch
"Mirage of Profit Decentralization" Dearden
"Profit in decentralized Profit Responsibility" Dearden
"An uneasy look at performance appraisal" McGregor
"Chairman Mac in perspective" Bennis
"Measuring Organizational Performance" Likert
