Sounds like a nice sentiment, and even has a ring of truth to the uninitiated in the ways of western culture and education,
but.............. my view is that, generally, going forward, fanatics of any kind, Western or not, have a lot less than most liberals believe to fear from education, such as it is, either in the West or in the East.
Many fanatics in the West traditionally not only do not fear, but skillfully use and manipulate education systems themselves, and use certain social science disciplinary themes, and those culled from popular and technical education, for their radical initiatives. Many fanatics rewrite various disciplines' stories and themes, notably history.
There are plenty of good examples. Hitler's use of Madison Avenue marketing and propaganda, and Hollywood's motion picture, techniques are only one nice glaring example of a fanatical movement boldly using educational institutions and insights, and cultural and commercial capital, for its fanatical and democratic agenda.
