The EU needs to call Google, Facebook, Apple (being called on the carpet right now for anti competitiveness, of all things), etc. on the carpet too.
They are part of the network, it seems, helping as best they can, patriotically, from the news reports.
In spite of the French attack on Apple, they seem to need to consolidate further for the good of all, to help them help governments, but also stand up to big government.
I say call the new consolidated entity something like Goofapflebock, something like that.

When you're too big to fail, when you globalize too much, you lose ' leverage ', as I think Hillary put it re China etc.;
you lose room to maneuver politically, as well as commercially, so to speak;
you get out on, so to speak, slippery ice, where there is no traction;
then, pretty soon, it is not only flat ice, but now you are on a slippery slope!
