Why not, baby! Tis the season to be jolly!
Having just finished Read's two volumes on Cecil and Elizabeth, it seems a great time to unload on Puritanism, Calvinism, and the fricking Pilgrims.
We can do a great really great rant, call it NATION OR FAUX NATION SHAMING, in that nation is too polite and to integral a word for what was then known, both before the Dutch Wars and then after them, as "the Dutch Republic".
Call this nation hate speech.
One cannot read Read's Volume II, p. 544, regarding the Dutch self dealing uses of the Dutch Wars, dealing profitably even with their own enemy during the Wars, and the decades long shameless and licentious uses and misuses of their allies, for themselves and themselves only, even against their ostensible allies, without an overwhelming sense of nausea and revulsion.
