Sir Michael Howard (himself half Jewish) noted that had one predicted where a war on Jews would have begun and spread, it would have been France, the site of the Dreyfus Affair in the late 19th Century, rather than Germany. This was, I suppose, because Germany was already more multicultural, geographically, and ethnically, than was France.
