From an environmental standpoint traditional agricultural topography, not agribusiness, makes much more sense in all respects.
Traditional farms were scattered around and among smaller banks of forest scattered around. This gave less chance for large scale forest fires. California has enormous forest parkland, much of it federal. It is hardly populated at all.
Small stands of forest should dot the landscape of agricultural land, by design. That is not how it is done anymore.
