This has been determined by DNA.
All later humans intermixed with ones genetically like these, and other preexisting archaic humans already in Eurasia, Neanderthals and Denisovans, etc.
The distinctive thing about the Australian aborigines is that they are an unmixed genetic line from the original modern humans from 50,000 years ago, because of their isolation.
Their culture when discovered 17th C was still paleolithic. They did not even have bows and arrows. They did not farm or herd. They were still pure hunter gatherers.
Archaic humans, both in and out of Africa used language.
