I would just point out that cannibalism was hardly distinctive of modern humans.
And there are behaviors that are thought by postmodern humans as torture, such as cats playing with mice or lizards, as a kind of torture, but the cat does not conceive of it in that kind of way at all.
These non hominid behaviors are not what I am referring to.
