There are a lot of liberal zombie ideas that won't die either.
One important liberal zombie idea is globalization. It was eventually adopted by Republicans too, but it was from the beginning a Democratic left liberal idea.
Another classic liberal zombie is the interchangeability of populations everywhere re economic development: "Provided with the same incentives, resources, and knowledge base, New Guineans would develop economies similar to that of Europeans, most economists would say." Wade, p. 154
A really great liberal zombie idea is that if we equalized global wealth we would all be better off.
A related zombie idea is the one Piketty harps on, that if we drastically reduce wealth inequality everywhere, Westerners will then be better off too.
Fiscal stimuli are a fertile field for liberal zombies. Infrastructure, R & D incentives, things like that. These only really work when you have mostly a domestic economy, which we don't. But they are zombies with legs. Krugman espouses infrastructure spending after the industrial horse has long left the barn. Further, it will not be a big domestic stimulus where foreign firms win the lion's share of federal infrastructure project contracts, as they certainly would plan to do. The first state DOT PPP project here, federally funded, was won by I think a German firm. Today, it would probably be an Asian firm, who knows? They are not set up to exclude foreigners. Another classic here was minority business incentives; they would farm those jobs out to mainly nonminority businesses and pocket the tip. Now its all descendants of Siberian labor, with Republican Anglo, Cuba exile latino, and Jew, grifters making the money.
These zombie ideas shamble along, usually together or as related ideas.
Smoot Hawley is a classic left liberal zombie causation shibboleth from way back about the Great Depression.
The list of liberal zombie ideas is long. This is only a brief look.
