REICH NEXT QUESTION

Is endogamy within an extended tribe, called in modern parlance a nation, analogous to the American Indian so called nations, the natural social structure of prehistoric hominids?

India seems to be the prime example, China the counterexample. Which is the rule, and which is the exception? Why?

Endogamy within each American Indian nation may have been  almost as rigorous as that within Indian endogamous populations. Someone like Reich could provide an answer to this question.

The Old Testament tribes of Israel may also present an analogous example of a high degree of endogamy within a larger Israelite or Hebraic culture. There were after all also priestly castes within ancient Hebraic culture. See Wikipedia, Priestly divisions
