I was brought up in a sportsman's family. But it was the old tradition of country people, not aristocrats, who hunted and fished for sport but also for their food in part.
Yet, some of the old nobility also still does so. Prince Charles fishes for salmon, etc., which they actually then have cooked and eat. But he is also a farmer and husbandman it seems, with a lot of help.
I could string a double recurve hunting bow, etc etc. That was not the usual weapon.
My father was a real outdoorsman.
I read Tarzan books.
