I think Trump's view more sophisticated than Stalin's. Read some posts on this blog to see why I say that.
Trump does have an ideological scheme, or at least an ideological theme. I did not think so at first. Mere tariffs are not by any means the whole story. He has advised predominantly American MNCs, over which he has some influence, to start pulling out of China.
That is not about tariffs exactly.
It is also definitely not about a deal.
