The political competitors, Democrat or Republican, are merely fodder for the big backers' higher agendas, profits, ideology, or religion.
This is American politics. It is not run by aristocrats. It is not fought by aristocrats. Some pundits talk about American aristocrats. There are none. There are very wealthy well meaning persons, and very wealthy grifters, in both parties, at the top. But the political machines of both are run by grifters.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS ARE ALL RATHER LIKE BEAR BAITING OR COCK FIGHTING
My two favorites, in the last one, were Christie and Trump, but I liked Christie much better.
Not as a candidate at all, but rather for entertainment.
He had a rollicking good time with the puerile sophomoric moronic ingenue latino midgets.
Incidentally, Cruz and Rubio would both certainly qualify as Krugman Morons.
