It has gone from radical left, in Jefferson's time,
to radical right in Lincoln's time, and long after,
to frankly schizophrenic in ours.
There has never been a time, other than long periods of indolent neurotic or psychotic drift when it did nothing much,
when it was not either radical, or clinically insane, as a party.
