Zionism was promoted by Britain, at first for military reasons, to keep and to appease antisemitic Czarist Russia, during WWI, by offering them an incentive not to leave the war, but also for both domestic and great power political and sociological reasons, as an alternative to otherwise continuing to litter Western Europe with Russian Jewish migrants and refugees, and as a way of playing the traditional British game of dividing continental powers and playing them off against one another, but this time this strategy transferred lock stock and barrel into the Middle East's Arab Jewish Persian Kurdish Islamic, etc., civilizational politics and religion, a very different medium, as they soon would learn.

Back then, Britain and others used the Jews for stooges.

In the US, it is the reverse.
