For me, the decade did not mean that much having seen it coming, but what it meant for others has been rather huge.
Americans have long been kept and held under the sway of a market driven faith in progress and in technological virtue.
The tendencies of tech, in all different diirections, as shown in the Politico article, has been a rude but merely half awakening for most liberal progressive Americans, who will have a hard time turning the tech developments of this decade, along with everything else going on, into a beneficent Whig interpretation of how the 21st Century is going.
Americans had been trained to think of tech as able to get everyone on the planet out of problems like poverty, pollution, disease, war, famine, climate decline, energy depletion, lack of leisure time, etc.
