THE FALL OF THE BERLIN WALL NEVER SEEMED LIKE A VICTORY FOR DEMOCRACY TO ME

WWII and The Cold War had both been victories for Russia and China, not for the US or for Europe.

1989 was merely a retrenchment, and only in the West. 

In the East, the West remained in full disorganized economic and political retreat.

Both sides are not losing. That is the Soviet line. 

Russia and China have an alliance against the US and the EU that places them in control of the world. I would not call that losing, 30 years later.

We have been the losers since the 20s, and then especially since 1945, not them.

The biggest subversion backfire of the century certainly was the Germans sending Lenin into Russia.
