By the time of WW II, obviously, the only worthwhile alternative was the Patton one.
We did not choose that one.
That decision was the last nail in the coffin of the West, as I see it.
By then, however, a lot of water had flowed under the bridge, over there, since 1917.
You can all kid yourselves about it, ' but there it is ', as the British say.
