RE DK A CLOSE LOOK AT SOME TRUMP VOTERS EXCERPT GREAT STUFF

"...Let me start with a point of my own.  While millions of racists undoubtedly voted for Donald Trump in 2016, I don't see how anyone can look at those figures and argue that racism won him the election, either in Pennsylvania or in the nation as a whole.  Barack Obama, who is black, carried the county with 72,000 (mostly white) votes in 2008 and 64,000 in 2012.  Hillary Rodham Clinton won ony 52,000 votes in 2016.  Sexism, it seems to me, might have cost the Democrats the  election (although I'm not aware of any sophisticated statistical analysis making that case.) Racism could not have.  Let's move ahead...." DK

WHAT KIND OF EQUALITY COULD THERE BE

for the billions now being rendered economically obsolete?

Capitalism leads to three things, not just one, inequality.

1. Capitalism leads to equality, that is income convergence, at least for those who are employed.

2. It leads to inequality, between most people on the one hand, whose income is converging, and the top .1% on the other whose income is rising.

3. And it leads to obsolescence of an enormous number whose income is failing to converge upward toward a global median or average income.

Half of the American work force is really now becoming obsolete based on its price in a globally converging market for it.

Billions in the poorer parts of the world are already, or are becoming, obsolete, for other reasons, but still, trust me, obsolete.

Who cares about democracy, when you are obsolete?

What is slavery, compared to obsolescence.

At least American negro slaves had masters who generally could afford them.

Many, billions, of people now are less well off than slaves who were provided for.

DOLCE & GABBANA LOVE THAT SHIT

Shoes with the heels made out of figurines representing Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce (L) and Stefano Gabbana are displayed at a Dolce & Gabbana shop in Beijing on November 22, 2018

Italy will go down swinging, re Global Sinification or Asiafuckation.

I want the Chinese to retreat from all Western brands, not just D & G, and go back to their traditional attire in their rice paddies. That is my view.

RE MEXICO TO DEPORT GROUP WHICH STORMED US BORDER

This was what I had suggested, otherwise US troops should fire on Mexican border positions first, and on illegal stormers second.

It's their choice, baby.

RE JESUS AND HIS JEWISH INFLUENCES JODI MAGNESS

This takes the research in this area even farther than when I first looked at it. It complements the accounts in Richard E Friedman's book Who Wrote The Bible, and in The Bible Unearthed. Biblical scholarship, and biblical archaeology together. The Historical Figure of Jesus is also useful.

Cobdenist Manchester School Corn Law Rant

How's that for a title?

I don't want to ruffle too much any well flounced feathers, but a few words now, here in mid June 2010, re some of these abstruse topics, seems not inapposite....

Americans have long been on a free trade, laissez faire, less government intervention is best, commercial and economic globalization bender.

Everyone has long looked, however, and especially now, to those very economists, those inimitable specialists, who first helped (along with the politicians) in the 30s and especially after WW II to set America on that bender, for guidance, about the emerging situation we all, and the rest of the world, face.

What does anyone now believe that the economists, virtually any of them, will now tell them, about their presuppositions? What explanations will they now give for the inexplicable mess?

Would they opine that they may have been wrong, or misguided, or myopic, or delusional, about the approach to political and economic policy inferred from their narrow special dull field?

No. That is not what one has been hearing from these paragons of scientific virtue; quite the opposite.

'Imperfect' markets was, for a long time, one of their puerile mantras.

Monetary policy is quite sufficient to direct the stultifera navis, they were wont to conclude.

They were relatively innocent, of the abundant research available from other fields, such as military history, or of the political and commercial directions some regimes were moving; when they did attend to it, mere 'free riders' they were usually called, by these doctrinaire pundits, as if this explained away the multifarious phenomena of economic rivalry, as mere evanescent aberrations, imperfect competition, which would resolve themselves naturally by market forces returning to equilibrium in good time.

What nonsense, on which to build a political or military policy, or one 'promoting the general welfare' of a nation state.

AMERICANS MAY SOON FIND OUT

PERHAPS, AN OLD STORY BY NOW.

That Apple has found out,

that their ideas are being gutted. say lobotomized, and knocked off by copycat Asian nations where their products have been made for so long.

None of that will have been a surprise for me.

G LOBOTOMIZATION GLOBALIZATION NOW FAR ADVANCED

G lobotomal global market capitalism may be unwinding faster than enthusiasts have predicted.

Market capitalism, not held in check, eventually gives itself a lobotomy: it globotomizes itself by globalizing.

That has been what we have been seeing for several decades now.

RE ACADEMIC-INDUSTRIAL SIMPLETONEX OLD DARLINGS

This is just 'business as usual' in this corrupt area of business regulation. Corporations pick these old darlings for a reason.

The title of the article makes it sound like there is some overarching strategic purpose for having members of foreign disciplines on corporate boards.

Were that actually the case, ala multidisciplinary input of a substantial kind
(were that possible in the status quo system of corporate structures),
or thinking outside the 'Maverick Executive' Box, that might be a good thing. Unfortunately, it has been merely a clever pretext.

The actual reasons are that these old darlings know often very little about the businesses that are actually run by the executives. The other actual reasons sometimes have to do with intercorporate or political back scratching, good ole boy/girl stuff, not 'good corporate governance', an oxymoron (the last thing they would want.)

Getting people like these is an executive decision, in order to have as little interference as possible with corporate executive shenanigans.

It is rather like selecting a mediator for a contested legal case who is unfamiliar with the subject matter field of the law, but who is nevertheless certified as a mediator of that kind of case by some supreme court or board;

selected (by the knowledgeable nonsettling side) for the express purpose of failing to settle the case, so that the fees can continue to accrue unabated, even though mediation was 'ordered' or 'tried'...

the old darling stumbles around the mediation discussions, spending a lot of time just getting up to speed on basic matters, not even the perhaps technical issues on which the dispute turns, and about that time, an impasse can conveniently be declared.

Executives' rationales for selecting academicians for such boards is rather like litigators selecting such mediators for contested cases. similar 'underlying principles' apply. TERM SEARCH: TEAM PLAY, experts, Rumpole, ETC.

Another, analogous, phenomenon is that of selecting a new CEO for a corporation who has no background in the core business or businesses of the company.

There can be many reasons for selecting such a person to head an organization; none of them really very good. That is history of American business organizational acumen and its competitive environment.

THIS IS THOORA BAIT.

THE PARTITION OF EUROPE WAS A CHUMP DEAL BETWEEN FDR AND STALIN

Western historians have all made it almost sound like a sudden tragic accident, or a misunderstanding.
An Iron Curtain suddenly mysteriously fell!
Or that Stalin sudddenly betrayed FDR and then Truman.
Or that the Russians just got there first!
Bullshit.

This post is dedicated to Thomas L Friedman.

TRADING PLACES LOCUS CLASSICUS OF PRESIDENTIAL AMORAL CHUMPDOM

Mr globalization won't like a reference to something like this.

Prince Orlofsky: "Amateur!"

RUSSIA SEIZES UKRAINE BOATS IN BLACK SEA SOUNDS GOOD TO ME

Russia should take back all of eastern Ukraine, the Orthodox part, and leave western Ukraine to a different fate.

Let's just put it this way: I would rather Russia seize the Black Sea than say Turkey, or say Iran, or one of the Muslim states in the Balkans.

Let them fight these bitches.

The West caved to Russia on the Eastern Question long ago, even before FDR then gave them eastern Europe for free, a real amoral chump presidential move....m
uch much bigger than the fucking partition of fricking Poland that Western liberals love to complain about....

That, FDR's, is also what I would call an amoral chump dick move, re Thomas L Friedman's Black Friday attack on amoral chumpTrump. Here were a few of my remarks on Black Friday:

"What is new at all about American Presidents being amoral chumps, especially in foreign policy, one of the few places in our system where they can shine and dumbly screw everyone both here and abroad simultaneously?

Examples of this kind of American Presidential behavior are legion. "Trading American Interests" is just a summary of high points of trade and commerce foreign policy chump measures in the last half 20th Century."

TLF, might as well be talking about FDR, re his gifts to Stalin, as about Trump's gifts to Putin and the Saudis:

'He sells out American values--awful enough-- but then gets nothing of value in return....Trading high American values for blood money...he got a slap on the wrist--a few sanctions--but nothing as damaging as his intervention in our elections (read here our whole political system under FDR) was to us...'

Take a look at books on Venona, re Stalin, to start to see what I mean by the parenthesis in TLF's passage above.

RE JEFFERSON HOUSE

Go to internet archive, type Eckerd College, and go to the yearbooks for 69-70, to 73, when the collegium concept was instituted.

Eckerd had also had a so called core series of courses, interdisciplinary in emphasis, sort of a broader humanities enrichment program, to accompany specialty degrees in arts and sciences, natural, and social sciences, mathematics, and languages, and area studies at some point.

It is apparently still possible to structure one's own individual undergraduate independent but guided course of study, similar to Jefferson House. One has to have one or more faculty members as its sponsors.

So, something of the concept of Jefferson House continues, probably in more than one liberal arts college in the US.

THE NATURAL TENDENCY OF CAPITALISM IS TO PRODUCE EQUALITY

You don't believe me.

One might call it, and I have called it, convergence.

It is, by far, the more fundamental and monumental tendency.

The so called natural tendency to produce inequality was not even an insight of Piketty. It was a black letter law of liberal economics history.

DK :
"...That, we should note, is true regardless of the degree of free trade and globalization at any particular moment.  If globalization increases economic growth overall--and it evidently does--it will increase inequality more rapidly, but capitalism itself, not globalization, causes inequality--unless something is done to reduce it..."

Free trade and globalization increase equality more than they do inequality. Capitalism causes both at the same time.

Tramp Globalization.

As even Marx had seen, capitalism itself leads to globalization. It is the natural result of under restrained capitalism.

RE DK CURRENT POST LEFT ECONOMICS

".......Another DK quote:

"...Piketty's most fundamental insight: that the natural tendency of capitalism is to produce inequality, because capital accumulates more rapidly than the economy grows as a whole.  That, we should note, is true regardless of the degree of free trade and globalization at any particular moment.  If globalization increases economic growth overall--and it evidently does--it will increase inequality more rapidly, but capitalism itself, not globalization, causes inequality--unless something is done to reduce it...."

The natural tendency of capitalism to produce inequality was a tenet of Marx long before Piketty, not because capital accumulates more rapidly, but for other reasons Marx described."

THE RADICAL GLOBALIZER WANTS RACIAL CONVERGENCE AS MUCH AS ECONOMIC AND RELIGIOUS CONVERGENCE

He, already, sees these things, as essentially connected.

He is rather like the immediate abolitionists of the late 18th and 19th Centuries, which wrought so much havoc wherever they were in the West and the US.

That's a dirty little secret. Keep it just between us. It has been driven by liberal, religious, and utopian, ideologies, and mainly by big globalist business interests, as well as so called conservative Western religious interests, especially in the 20th century.
Low level Western adherents, liberal or conservative, don't really appreciate the full horrific implications of their ad hoc globalist views, zealots seldom do, but I can spell them out for you:

Every person in the world should have no religion,  consider every other person in the world his brother, be dark tan in color, make about $400 a year, and be happy with this utopian state of affairs.

RE THE OTHER AVALON ET IN ARCADIA EGO ALLEGORY OF UTOPIAN GLOBALIZATION

SEE prior post: THE OTHER AVALON
Let's analogize the systems failure on the car, between its cooling system 'systems', to globalized industry.
You have a an IT part made in X, other moving parts made in Y and another IT part made in Z, and the car assembled in Omega.
What happens when you have a little political instability here and there?
What about just logistical dilemmas cropping up?
How about a major war?
What if the water pump now has to come from Asia, as they usually do now originally, say either Japan or China nowadays, and China is asserting hegemony over the whole Pacific and gets into a little sticky wicket with its neighbors, especially Japan?

Guess what? The water pump itself is made of parts that come from say 3 countries, assembled in a 4th. What happens if trade goes south? Plan B?

There is no Plan B for globalized industrial outsourcing.

If you can't use WMD yourself for prudential reasons, or prevent others from doing so due to allowing proliferation, and you can't keep the sources of your conventional military equipment within your borders, then you are not a super power. The term super power was a misnomer, and then became obsolete, almost at the time that it was coined...
No water pumps are made in Syria, or much of anything else in the whole rest of the Middle East for that matter, so it's ok to bomb them back to the stone age without interfering with housewives here getting to the beauty parlor in their Avalon.
Asia, little different story...

AYODHYA

They should just kick the Muslims out now. Yesterday.

It will then give them a pathetic chance to try to get ready for the Chinese Belt and Road insertion, baby!

GLOBALIZATION IS PAKISTANIZATION PLUS CONVERGOLESCENCE

ASIABIBIAZATION: Billions of desperately poor people, of different colors and religions, clawing for food, herded together in open fields, trying also to find any water at all, drinkable water, or cups undefiled by fellow worker infidels.

Great place for Bill Gates' toilets!
'They were harvesting fruit when a row broke out about a bucket of water. The women said that because she had used a cup, they could no longer touch it, as her faith had made it unclean.
Prosecutors alleged that in the row that followed, the women said Asia Bibi should convert to Islam and that she made offensive comments about the Prophet Muhammad in response.
She was later beaten up at her home, with her accusers saying she had confessed to blasphemy. She was arrested after a police investigation.
Acquitting her, the Supreme Court said that the case was based on unreliable evidence and her confession was delivered in front of a crowd "threatening to kill her".

Why is this case so divisive?

Islam is Pakistan's national religion and underpins its legal system. Public support for the strict blasphemy laws is strong.'

WHITE PEOPLE ARE COLOURLESS BLOODLESS INHUMAN GENETIC OPPRESSIVE IMPERIALISTS

See also:

"...Human society is defined by struggles among different demographic groups contesting for power. White people--especially straight white males--have traditionally dominated society, oppressing women, LGBTQs, and nonwhites. Each of us carries in our genes either the sins or the victimhood of our ancestors. All right-thinking people have a duty to reduce the imbalance between straight white males on the one hand, and everyone else on the other. A key aspect of white male oppression is visibility. We need far more nonwhitemales in visible positions--such as positions of power--to correct for centuries of oppression...." DK describing dominant US academia ideology he abhors...
