Professor Kaiser has been writing a book about American history predicated on presidential addresses.
Unfortunately, presidential utterances often have little or no bearing on the actual thoughts, intentions, or decisions of politicians, or on the course of history, here or in Britain, even back into the 18th Century.
See J G A Pocock, Virtue, Commerce, and History, Part III, re J C D Clark, Dynamics of Change..
This is a very special piece of noxious presidential drivel, especially so, coming from a man foolish democrats themselves had foolishly elected:
"Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country!"
