RE PIKETTY CAPITAL INTRODUCTION

You can call it a species of THE PROGRESS DILEMMA........

Then, if you get something that looks like a refutation, historic catastrophe,

you move on, to THE CYCLE DILEMMAS, LIFE CYCLES, GENERATIONS, CIVILIZATIONS RISE AND FALL, ETC. 

But that never gets you back beyond THE PROGRESS DILEMMA. 

You stay in it. Trust me.

A pinnacle is the belief, in The West, that WWI, and then WWII, were just getting us ready for better things, greater things, ahead, later.

Well, try this for size: 

Europe did not have a better infrastructure system, or economic system, than the Romans, in most places in the Empire, until at least the 19th Century.

The Crimean War was fought on Horseback and foot.
