THE MEDIA ARISTOCRACY BOTH THE ESTABLISHMENT AND THE OPPOSITION

This is not a new thing.... 

For example, The Times (London) was the liberal establishment, 19th Century, organ of choice; while The Guardian was one of the erect, jutting, left opposition, organs. 

They more or less still are!
