Great stuff.
Old laissez faire theory exhalted small bourgeoisie and freeholders. Hated the big monopolies, charter companies, East India Company etc.
Also hated nationalism itself.
They were really early, globalistic, working but also rather bourgeoisie class oriented, political anarchists even, re the Ancien Regime, in spirit. Theirs was also the spirit of the Enlightenment, unfortunately.
An ideal, stillborn unfortunately, even in the 18th Century of Adam Smith.
