Most unfortunately, similarly to better parents, better journalism is not something liberal so called democracies have ever been able to get by market forces,
and market forces, entertainment, or sensationalism,
rather than genuine edification or understanding of issues,
have been paramount usually.

How about one breadwinner, middle class, families?
That was the lucky situation, after the end of WWII, for a short while here.
