Kirk Tofte, in his comment, has the good point about what 'original sin' might have been here: separating politics from economics as 'disciplines' in the first place.
One might add, commerce or trade, and finance, as 'disciplines' separated from politics, and from economics, as a crucial compartmentalization leading to still greater difficulties, apart from those arising from compartmentalization merely between politics and economics.
One could throw in sociology as an important discipline separated from the others, as very important going forward.
