Was the overpopulation of Western Europe in the early 14th century, itself, partly caused by the previous Mongolian invasions,
of Ghengis Khan, and his successors, in the 13th, in Eastern Europe,
and thus migrations of large numbers of Eastern European agrarian peasants West,
to avoid destruction, and or starvation, at Mongol hands?
Fix's lectures begin after this period........
Looking at Wikipedia term search Golden Horde,
it seems that many steppe people, notably Cumans were driven West by the Mongol invasions and the wars fought there.
