DK's current post:
'They could spend their careers propagating it, and they did. And now, two generations of undergraduates have passed through college without learning anything, unless they are very lucky, about what the American system is actually capable of. You will never convince me that that has not contributed, massively, to the collapse of our political life. You cannot rebuild the New Deal if you have no idea what it was or what it did.'
Great stuff. You need a knowledgeable, dedicated, nationalistic I believe, middle class, to survive and prosper (you must prosper to survive now, unfortunately.....)
We need economic nationalism, (and a redevelopmental state, here now), virtually unknown here since the middle of the 19th century, the time of Lincoln.
It has been a very complex political structural problem, both before and after Lincoln. DK won't perhaps agree with me about that, apparently, but there it is.
Nevertheless,
Terms search this site: middle class.
