DK ACTIVISM THEN AND NOW PT II A FEW CITATIONS RE THE ORIGINS OF RACISM
Re The Wages of Whiteness, Kunzru, a half Hindu atheist, married to a Niponese expat, mentions Bacon's Rebellion.
This seems the start of one of the stories they tell IN THE 1619 PROJECT.
You can say it, this modern ideology, began way back with old Stokely Carmichael, and his term systemic racism. Black Power: The Politics of Liberation.
Now, Wikipedia calls it Institutional Racism, a distinctive feature under our liberal ideology only of Western white male dominated Civilization.
Their story is that racism itself as an idea only began, and only began first here in America, in the aftermath of Bacon's Rebellion.
Nothing more ridiculous can possibly be imagined. These folks claim that racism itself began with white folks here in America starting to think they had to distinguish negroes from themselves to properly feel good about enslaving them.
Then negro theorists came up with the notion that whiteness itself was a negro construct based on that "white oppression history".
I have discussed that there was little difference economically and physically between enslavement and indentured servitude, and that half white colonists were in much the same condition of servitude for terms of years as negro slaves were for life, but that is hardly to say or think that there weren't huge differences ethnically racially and culturally for and among those groups in the 17th Century, as even a casual look at even say White Over Black would show.

It had been the white West itself which had objected to slavery, some white religious pundits claining that it was a sin. No negroes had ever claimed such a thing, certainly no negroes in Africa who continued their own slave trade regardless of what white traders thought or did for hundreds of years.
Championing any rights, for anyone not of your own civilization, as an innovation, is a very dangerous game culturally to have played even if your genetic impulses sent you in that direction against the better judgment of some Westerners, and the West has now lost that game for good and forever.
